Food Review: Poulet

Dear readers,

I am back with another food review!

Just yesterday, boyfriend and I had dinner at Poulet's new outlet in Vivocity and it was rather different from Bugis's outlet.

Having tried having dinner at the Bugis outlet for at least 3 times, I found the experience rather okay. Each time we would have the same dishes and main courses and of course, this time there is no exception. We had the Poulet Roti as our main courses, mashed potatoes and soups (Mushroom and French Onion) as appetizers.

Soup: French Onion Soup

Soup: Mushroom Soup

Appetizer: Mashed Potatoes

Star dish of Poulet: Poulet Roti

But what makes the outlet at Vivocity different from Bugis was that the Vivocity outlet doesn't serve iced or cold water but only warm water at an additional charge of 50cents.

As for the Bugis outlet, you can get free flow iced/cold water (subject to change according to their management).

As for the food standard, they were the same.

For me, I really loved their food and especially their mashed potatoes but on the third attempt, I found the Mushroom Chardonnay sauce surrounding the rotisserie to be really boring after a few bites and just pushed it aside after having the breast part.

Despite that, I must say Poulet is worth a try for roast chicken fans!

Checkout their site for more details and pictures of their tantalizing dishes.

Thank you for reading and hope this helps you in making a choice! xx

Beauty Review: Masks

Dear readers!

I'm back again for more beauty related tips.

A few weeks back, I came up with a trick to remember when its time to apply the masks and to not forget whether I have used the mask the day before or two days before. The trick is to label days on the masks.

As a beauty obsession, I enjoy using masks daily as well as purchasing masks. As any beauty fanatic would know, there are several types of masks. There are clay masks, sleeping masks, sheet masks, wash off masks etc.

There are also several purposes that comes with these varying types of masks like hydration, whitening or drying purposes. They serve as an additional step in your daily beauty regime. Most of the masks I have are for clearing acne or pore cleansing.

Below are some of the tubes and tubs of masks I have and of course these are not the only types of masks i own. I have many sheet masks as well.

From left to right: Boscia Luminizing Black Mask, Dior White Reveal Renewing Mask, Philosophy Total Mattness Mask, Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off, Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask, Kiehls Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Mask, Laneige Sleeping Mask, Innisfree Eco Science White C Sleeping Pack, Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, Caudalie Purifying Mask.

Well, of course not all are as effective. I will definitely do reviews for each one in time to come.

Thank you for reading and hope you girls like this post.

Beauty Review: Clarisonic Mia 2

Hello lovelies!

I will be doing a review on Clarisonic Mia 2 today. After procrastinating on whether to buy this cleaning brush for ages, I finally bought it during Sephora's 15% happy hour sale!

And I am truly satisfied and more than happy to have finally purchase this holy grail item! It is truly a product worth mentioning. On the same day, I bought 2 other brush heads, the deep pore brush head and the delicate brush head.

As this product comes in a box together with a charger, a sensitive brush head and a Clarisonic gel cleanser, I tried the gel cleanser they provided and the results were fantastic. Fortunately, I did not experience any tingling or breakout on the first day of using, as I have read from other reviews. All I experienced was smoothness, cleanliness as well as hydration at the same time. I liked that the gel cleanser complements the cleaning brush, it was non-drying and easily removed with cold water.

For more information, you can look up their website.

If u purchase online, there are several colors to choose from, but if you wish to purchase it off the shelves in Sephora, there are only limited colors available.

I got the grey one because I thought the white one would be easily dirtied and instead of getting Mia Plus for both face and body, I purchased Mia 2 just for the face.

How I use Mia 2

After removing makeup

1. Wet face with cold running water and wash the brush head thoroughly

2. Squeeze out the gel cleanser and place on the brush head

3. Switch on the cleaning brush and set the speed and t-timer. Brush 20 seconds for forehead, 20 seconds for chin and 10 seconds on each cheek.

4. Rub the gel cleanser into the skin with bare hands

5. Wash with cold running water and voilĂ ! Hydrated and radiant complexion resurfaces.

BEFORE & AFTER

As seen in the before and after comparison, you can see my skin looks much fairer and hydrated unlike the yellowish hue I have on my face previously. The difference may not be that visible in the photos, but I believe by incorporating good cleansing practice, my skin would reveal baby soft skin in time to come!

PROS:
Good cleansing system
Excellent quality
2-year warranty
Comes with brand's gel cleanser which works perfectly well with the cleaning brush

CONS:
Pricey, wished it was cheaper!
Expensive and tedious to have to replace the brush head every 3 months

Rating: 5/5
Would I repurchase: YES, but there is no need anytime soon as there is a 2-year warranty. The only downside is that it is an expensive investment as you are required to replace the brush head every 3 months for best results. I gave this product 5 stars because I simply love it despite the steep price, it works better than other cleaning brushes I have tried. I have previously tried Tosowoong 4D vibration brush and manual brushes. Tosowoong was much cheaper, its price was 1/4 the price of a Clarisonic Mia 2, but malfunctioned in less than 2 weeks and had no warranty.

If you are still not convinced, head down to Sephora and get the retail assistants to do a test for you on your skin or simply read more reviews!

I wish you girls luck and thank you for reading  :)

Food Review - Todamgol Korean Traditional Restaurant

Anyong Haseyo!

I will be doing a restaurant review today! Just a week back, boyfriend and I went to explore Tras Street, the street in Singapore that is most popular for its korean restaurants.

Being rather close to Tanjong Pagar station and a stone throw away from popular streets like Ann Siang Hill and Duxton Hill. It is a popular place for working professionals to chill after work. Here, you can meet many Koreans as well!

On a Sunday evening, boyfriend and I took a quick liking to Todamgol, a traditional restaurant under the famous Kko Kko Nara group. Because Kko Kko Nara has been raved to have the best chicken wings in town (based on reviews), we decided to dine at Todamgol because I believe the quality should be the about the same. We did not dine at Kko Kko Nara because we weren't craving for chicken wings.

Anyway, when we went in, we felt as if we were back in Korea. The place was rather dim and filled with Koreans chatting away. It was an interesting thing to see, being in Singapore.

Despite the alluring interior and exterior, we were turned off by the service. Boyfriend asked for a glass of water as he did not enjoy korean tea but was rejected and told that the korean tea was water.

We ordered the beef BBQ stew, which in our opinion was delicious! The seafood pancake we ordered was also one of the best I had in SG. I also thoroughly enjoyed the side dishes served.

Rating: 3.5/5
Would I recommend: If you do not mind poor or rude service, this would be a nice venue for lunch or dinner. The lunch menu is extremely affordable at only $12 per dish. Dinner is rather expensive. For the two dishes we ordered, we paid in total 70++. The food was overall really good but I would not come back again because of the poor service.

Thank you for reading and hope this helps!

Hotel review: Larkhill Terrace, Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa

Hello my dear readers!

It has been a while since I last updated because I have been really busy with job interviews etc.

Anyway, about 3 weeks ago, I treated my boyfriend to a stay at Larkhill Terrace, one of the beautiful resorts under Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa.

I booked the place during promotional period and believe I got it at a steal! It was only 600++ a night but with many other good deals under the package.

1. Exclusive limo ride to the venue
2. $30 Takashimaya vouchers (which I was pretty unhappy about)
3. $100 F&B credits in their restaurants, Tier Bar or Shutters
4. Complimentary breakfast for 2
5. Complimentary mini-bar
5. Slice of birthday cake

When we arrived at Amara Sancturary Resort reception, we were asked to wait for awhile as our room wasn't ready. Therefore, we roamed around and saw many peacocks strutting freely in the vicinity.

Close to 3pm, our check-in time, we proceeded to the reception and were brought to our room by their personal buggy. The bellboy was really nice to even take our luggage for us and showed us how to activate the room card.

We were greeted shortly after, with a plate of fresh fruits and nuts which in my opinion, was a delightful treat for my boy and I!

mini-fridge was initially stored with juices, beers, pepsis for two.

mini-bar filled with a variety of instant coffee mixes and tea bags

The birthday cake came shortly after as well, but at this point I was rather disappointed with the service because I asked for a lighter from the service attendant but never got to see the lighter AT ALL. I guess he has forgotten? However, I did not call up to ask for it again as we were late for an animal show and my boyfriend is a huge fan of animals which is why we had no choice but to gobble the cake up.

When we came back, we swam in the infinity pool and chilled on the daybed. With the gorgeous view of the pool and sky, time passed really fast.

After the swim, we headed to Shutters for dinner. The items on the menu were relatively reasonable and the $100 dollar credits were sufficient for us to order 2 soups, 2 main courses and a dessert. I had the french onion soup, boyfriend had the seafood chowder soup, and we both had steak & frites as our main course. There was even complimentary bread served.

Overall, the food was great! I loved how tender the steak was, and how tasty the truffle fries were. This was the first time I ever had truffle fries as a side dish. Needless to say, we both enjoyed our soups and bread as well.

Proceeding on, we head back to our hotel for rest and to bathe. Before shower, we soaked in the bathtub as its our favorite thing to do whenever we book hotels. We even ordered supper with our leftover credits.

And last but not least, we have come to the end of our stay, and both of us had the complimentary breakfast before checkout. I must say,  they did not have much of a variety as compared to W hotel or MBS but it was still great. We loved the beef mee sua and porridge!

After the stay, we were so exhausted that we took a cab back and when I got back, I opened the vouchers and realised they were expired already. As I did not have anything to buy from Takashimaya, I did not pursue the matter. However, I was pretty upset that Amara Sanctuary is so tactless in their service.

But despite their unsatisfactory service, I pretty much loved my stay there as the room was fabulous and the food was delicious.

Rating: 4/5
Would I recommend: Having been to many luxurious hotels, and even their two-bedroom pool villas, I think the concept is worth trying. I preferred Larkhill Terrace to their two-bedroom pool villas because it was cleaner, and more unique. I hated that the villa's bathtubs were filled with fallen leaves and the bedrooms attracted armies of mosquitoes.

Thank you for reading and hope this helps!
