I will be doing a restaurant review today! Just a week back, boyfriend and I went to explore Tras Street, the street in Singapore that is most popular for its korean restaurants.
Being rather close to Tanjong Pagar station and a stone throw away from popular streets like Ann Siang Hill and Duxton Hill. It is a popular place for working professionals to chill after work. Here, you can meet many Koreans as well!
On a Sunday evening, boyfriend and I took a quick liking to Todamgol, a traditional restaurant under the famous Kko Kko Nara group. Because Kko Kko Nara has been raved to have the best chicken wings in town (based on reviews), we decided to dine at Todamgol because I believe the quality should be the about the same. We did not dine at Kko Kko Nara because we weren't craving for chicken wings.
Anyway, when we went in, we felt as if we were back in Korea. The place was rather dim and filled with Koreans chatting away. It was an interesting thing to see, being in Singapore.
Despite the alluring interior and exterior, we were turned off by the service. Boyfriend asked for a glass of water as he did not enjoy korean tea but was rejected and told that the korean tea was water.
We ordered the beef BBQ stew, which in our opinion was delicious! The seafood pancake we ordered was also one of the best I had in SG. I also thoroughly enjoyed the side dishes served.
Rating: 3.5/5
Would I recommend: If you do not mind poor or rude service, this would be a nice venue for lunch or dinner. The lunch menu is extremely affordable at only $12 per dish. Dinner is rather expensive. For the two dishes we ordered, we paid in total 70++. The food was overall really good but I would not come back again because of the poor service.
